In addition, the two DVD recorders come with twin HD tuners that enable customers to record two digital broadcasts at the same time. Panasonic claims that the DMR-XW480 can record up to 350 hours of content in HM mode onto its 500GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD).
The DMR-XW480 and DMR-XW380 also feature the latest viewing and archiving features. The SD Memory Card slot makes it simple to view AVCHD and JPEG images captured with an HD camcorder or digital still camera. The Recorders also feature an HD archiving function to save Full HD images from an SD Card onto the HDD.
In addition to a High Speed Copying function, Panasonic says that a DR File Conversion function can convert TV programs recorded in DR mode on HDD into HG, HX, HE, HL, or HM mode (High Definition). “The Recorder compresses the recorded programs at a lower bit rate but retains the high definition resolution, therefore taking up less space on the HDD without compromising on picture quality,” said the company.
There is also a 60 second skip forward and 10 second skip back button for faster, simpler navigation, and the latest 7-day EPG functionality allows TV programs to be archived or displayed by genre – such as Sport or Drama.
The Panasonic DMR-XW480 and DMR-XW380 are available this month for $999 and $799, respectively
